Time Slows Down… Light Starts to Bend

Posted by Chris on January 24 2010 2 Commented

Ahh winter. The time of year when everything slows down, nobody wants to go outside, and everyone bemoans the free salt bath our cars get in the GTA. Why the hell would anybody take their car out in the winter!?

Thankfully not everybody is a wuss and garages their summer ride when old man winter shows [...]

Stupid winter…

Well the car’s in winter mode now, and what do you do with an STI in the winter other than drive it everywhere sideways and do donuts upon arrival at your destination? Exactly. That’s ALL you do with it. That and fill it with gas on a seemingly hourly basis. Fun times… fun times. =)

VIDEO: Formula Drift 2009, Irwindale

Had a great time shooting stills at Irwindale, the final round of the Formula Drift. Of course since my new camera has a video function I had to shoot some video! Sadly I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to shooting, editing, or composing video, so I just wing it and here’s [...]

Rally of the Tall Pines 2009

Posted by Chris on December 7 2009 Add Comments

I decided this year to head up north to Bancroft, Ontario to try get some coverage of the Rally of the Tall Pines. The weekend quickly degraded into more ‘party’ than ’spectate an event’ but before it did completely I did manage to put up with standing around for 3 stages to snap some shots.

I’ll [...]

SoCal Subie Style Crosses the 49th Parallel

A nice fat, wide set of tires have always been popular with the enthusiast crowd for obvious reasons. Even stretched tires have had their place in our hearts since the 60’s and 70’s (Countache and Stratos, anybody?). But the audacity to run these setups on a daily driven street car, let alone one engineered to [...]

The Real Deal: Toshi’s 700+whp Top Secret Built “Weekend Car”

“JDM” is a funny term. Like any trend based around a single ideal, the core of that ideal will be diluted and worn away as more and more people latch the trend and don’t stick to the original intent of the idea. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just a natural progression.

Well, when your life gets turned upside down you tend to neglect the things that mattered to you for a while. That’s what’s happened here, my life was thrown into utter termoil for a bit, and only now 3 weeks later am I getting my shit together properly.

FormulaDrift @ Irwindale Mega Post Part II: Down to Business

Posted by Chris on October 22 2009 2 Commented

The second day at FormulaD began with a walk around the pit and paddock areas to get a look at what the vendors/teams/builders/shops had on display. Right away I was drawn to a rather iconic set of colors…

Anyone who follows Subarus or sport compact racing in general will have seen the Crawford built 2008 time [...]

FormulaDrift @ Irwindale Mega Post Gallery Part I: The House of Drift

Having never won a trip anywhere I didn’t know exactly what to expect beyond a flight and the event. It started off pretty damn good though; upon arriving at the hotel there was a nice surprise waiting for me in the room…

FEATURED CAR: Stephen’s “Pineapple Express” 97 Hatch

Posted by Chris on October 7 2009 2 Commented

Sometimes there’s a definite plan or mod-route in mind when a serious project car is undertaken. Sometimes, there isn’t a plan at all, and it’s the result of years of evolution and tweaking and fiddling. Stephen’s Honda falls into the latter category. Perhaps it’s the definition of this category…

FEATURED CAR: Toshi’s Red Hot R35 GTR

“Hey Chris wanna shoot a GTR? It’s an R35 in red.”
“Uhhhhhhh… yes please” was my obvious reply…
What else do you say when you get the chance to poke around a fresh GTR? I’ve never seen the red one in person before, so I was intrigued. I personally hate the signature silver colour these come in, [...]

FEATURED CAR: Paolo’s Civic

Posted by Chris on September 22 2009 2 Commented

Paolo and I had been talking since what must’ve been early in the summer about shooting his car, but waiting for a few final bits to go on. A Civic would have to be somewhat special to stand up to some of the other cars on this site – GTR, Lamborghini, Aston Martin – these [...]

FEATURED CAR(S!): Henry’s and David’s S2000s

Posted by Chris on September 16 2009 4 Commented

Henry and David contacted me last week to shoot their cars, and having never had one S2000 to shoot – let alone two of them – I was more than happy to oblige. The problem as I see it with S2000’s isn’t so much anything with the car in specific. The problem is now that [...]

FEATURED CAR: Dan’s Lamborghini Gallardo

Posted by Chris on September 14 2009 2 Commented

Ok, so I know it’s not modified or tuned and maybe it’s not really Dan’s, what would you do if someone said “Wanna come shoot a Lambo?” Dan was nice enough to bring out “Il Toro” for me and a friend to take a few pics of before showing up at our weekly Subaru meet [...]
